5 Tips to Better Swimming

Here are five swimming secrets that can make you a powerhouse in the pool.

1. Kick gently. Vigorous kicking uses lots of energy but adds only a little power.

2. Roll your whole body, from head to hips, to the side with each stroke.

3. When you’re facedown, look at the bottom of the pool to help you keep your hips and feet parallel to the surface. When you roll faceup, look directly up at the ceiling.

4. Slip your arm into the water as if you were sliding it into a sleeve.

5. Aim your arm down the middle of your body as you take a stroke, so your hand draws an imaginary line from the top of your head to your belly button.
